Cognitive dissonance and mental gymnastics in social media!
by stuckinarut2 inso over the last few years, the witnesses i know (who were close friends in the past) who follow me on instagram social media have been steadily dropping off and blocking me..... but there are a small number who are still friends.. i have noticed one sad situation for one friend who is clearly battling cognitive dissonance.
if she posts a picture and i leave a nice comment on it, my comment quickly disappears.
(she must delete it i guess) but then soon after she sends a nice private message asking how we are, or commenting on the post or activity.

yeah, well, i used to believe that when i was "in".
since leaving we all know this is bs, but today a simple, non religious, conversation lead me to see how stupid their claim is.. in my attempt to meet people and make friends i joined an international meetup group online a few months ago.

Which Bible Translation
by moreconfusedthanever ini have seen a few comments about the nwt being an altered version of the bible and i must admit that when they released the new one it did not sit right with me.. i want to read the bible but not the nwt.
i also do not want to read one that has the thee and thou and ye etc because that will do my head in.. what translations do you recommend?.

A WTF Moment While In the WTS
by Searching inhas anyone else had a moment, while still within the organization (and before learning ttatt) that caused them to stop and go, "this is kind of messed up.".
for instance, back i believe in the early 2000's, i was attending a dc with my family.
it was announced at the beginning of the convention that there was going to be a special announcement at the end, so for everyone to please try to remain until the very end of the meeting.

Huge article(s) in Dutch media on JW child abuse
by Anders Andersen inso today the well-respected and serious newspaper trouw.nl came with child abuse within the jw as their topmost frontpage article.. the articles are well researched and aim primarily at the dutch jw situation.. afaik at least on member of this forum assisted the newspaper with the articles.

I salivate at the thought of this blowing up here in their JW 'motherland'.
It would be awesome if all media outlets publicized how they have a secret database of these monsters, and how even high-ranking men may be in it, and they will protect them instead of the trusting rank-and-file.
Gosh, talk about a mass exodus if this scenario went down!!!

Some day I will go out preaching only every other Saturday, weather permitting; and never on a Sunday.
Same for meetings, every other one. Even social gatherings, we Hispanics have too freaking many of those. I would attend one once in a great while.
For now, only dreaming of sweet freedom can I keep calm.
Sincere congratulations to all those that have mustered the great courage it takes to walk away.
